Electrical panels and G59/2 relay testing

As part of the electrical installation of a wind turbine, WindCare is often asked to supply electrical panels as part of our scope of works. Whether this is a simple Distribution Board with mains switch to connect the turbine into or a bespoke panel incorporating a G59 relay, contactor, isolator and Total Generation Meter, WindCare has designed, built and installed them all.

In addition, WindCare also offer a stand-alone panel building division which was created due to the demand we were getting from our customers for this service. Most of the panels we supply are bench-tested G59 panels which we also witness test alongside the DNOs on a national basis.

Once built, all panels are run up on our own bench to ensure they are in full working order before they leave our office. Panels are clearly labelled and all connections colour coded to make the installation of them as straightforward as possible. Alternatively, WindCare will install the panel for you on your site. Panels have in-built LED lights showing when they are on/off line. The panels are supplied with a Single Line Diagram and a copy of the G59 bench-test certificate if applicable.

WindCare holds a large amount of electrical stock on site meaning we can react to all standard panel building requests quickly and are not waiting for electrical wholesalers to source parts. We own our own test meter making us flexible in terms of witnessing G59 relays with the DNOs.

Please note that our electrical panels are not limited to wind turbines and we have supplied a number of electrical panels for solar PV arrays as well as power limiter panels and panels for several ‘multi-technology’ developments.
